The Magic of Bali

Identification of victims still going on
Volunteers and balinese authorities are coordinating field efforts to help victims and their families.
Bali Hati Foundation, the Red Cross and BaliSOS are some of the groups trying to coordinate efforts.
Central registration of aid and coordination is arranged by the office of the governor of Bali.
Indonesian Police, the Red Cross and forensic specialists from other countries are coordinating the Missing Person and Identification tasks for indonesian victims.
Identification of further Non-Indonesian victims is coordinated by an international team of forensic specialists including Australian Federal Police.

Thank you to all the volunteers and staff involved with this process.
Rescue Team at Bomb Site
As of today, Monday November 25, 2002, only 2 victims are still hospitalized in Sanglah hospital.
There are still bodies of unidentified bomb victims and forensic specialists continue to do their best.
We don't exactly know the status of evacuated injured bomb victims.
Here is the statistics of terror as published by the office of the Governor of Bali.
Most non-indonesian injured victims have been evacuated to Australia, Singapore or their countries of origin.
Some non-indonesian victims chose not to be evacuated but rather stay here on Bali untill they have recovered.
Most of the seriously injured indonesian victims have been evacuated to Australia. Thanks to our friends there.
Most of the victims who were not evacuated have physically recovered from their injuries and were released from the hospitals here.

During the first days after the horrible event that cast a time of grief and darkness over Bali there were many good reasons to publish a list of injured and hospitalized victims.
Such reasons do not apply anymore and here at BaliSOS we value the human right of privacy higher than the curiosity of those who were not affected.
For the same reasons, a list of killed victims was never published here.
Inquiries about injured persons may be mailed to Bali SOS via VictimTrace@BaliSOS.com.

NOTICE regarding MISSING / INJURED PERSONS due to BOMBING of October 12, 2002

We agree with many other people that a list of missing persons should not be published!
Nobody would like to be on such a list only because they left their hotel unofficially or because something went wrong with the registration papers at the hotel.
We further understand that such a list would violate the human rights of the people listed in public.

1. The missing person(s) is indonesian citizen:
Follow the advice as published here or check anouncements in Messages & Forum or contact Bali Hati Foundation.

2. The missing person(s) is not indonesian citizen:
Contact the embassy or the consulate of the missing person(s) country of citizenship and ask their advice.
You find a complete list of foreign embassies in Indonesia in our index of organisations.
